Thanks all, I actually ended up getting the Unifi US-8-60W as I can live with the fewer ports, and can always get an additional switch down the line if need be. I'll still have a couple of PoE ports spare with this too, as I may add an IP camera at the front door at some stage.

Regarding the passive PoE comments, I read a thread on Ubiquiti's forum last night from a company rep saying they were phasing out passive PoE for their AP's in favour of 802.3af.

Sorry for not being clear enough for you ArdRigh, I was referring to 24v Passive PoE that the cameras hardware is currently specd as opposed to follwing the 802.3af standard. This was inline with the discussion that was happening....

That's how forums work, yes. People make replies to the conversation.

Like adding a link to the official PoE support chart for current models of Ubiquiti video cameras.

Which lists G3 Dome 802.3af support.

Which is also listed in the product datasheet.

Which people will know by actually looking at it.

But I am sure you were just talking about the other camera right?

Not sure what I have done to upset you, but yes I was referring to the the G3 (not dome version) the one in my hand in the picture below that I setup last week. I made the purely inquisitive comment because the original AP's did not support 802.3af, now it appears they are moving towards it, and I was wondering if they were taking a similar approach with their all weather UVC-G3.. Again, not sure what I did to upset you.
