Strangely, when on 2.4Ghz, I get 90Mbit/s download, but on the 5Ghz channel, I get 196Mbit/s.

Does anyone have any specific affordable wifi router suggestions that will do the job?

I've looked at PbTech and they're all in the $300 - $400 range, anything more cost effective?

That is near perfect experience for wireless, Particularly in an urban situation.

Well when I'm downloading I get high fluctuations in download speeds. Also sometimes when I open a web page there is a long delay before it opens.

So I'm guessing this is wireless related.

Also my Apple TV has problems in the NHL.TV app streaming, it often goes down from HD to very pixelated then back to HD.

Does this sound like Wifi issues?

Totally depends on Destination and source.

If you are streaming content from America, speeds may vary a fair bit more than a speedtest server sitting in the cbd.

This could be intermittent periods of wireless congestion yes, although that comes with wireless being a conveyance feature.

the DNS proxy on the HG659 is known to have 'issues' - try changing the HG659 to non-proxy DNS and see if the weird pauses vanish (worked for me)
