Particularly that poster commenting on locations of servers, sounds unlikely that they are 100% in the know on what's going on with the device...

Well this thread is also on the internet......

But yeah after reading a few more threads I get the impression that you won't see more than what I'm getting via the Google app so I'm not that worried about it but thanks for your help.

There's probably a couple of things you can do really.

 

1) Move the Google AP into the garage and run a short cable between it and the router and test again - to rule out your cabling

 

2) Plug a client into the ethernet port the Google AP, if it has one, and run a speedtest from the client

 

But the reality is you'll be lucky to hit that speed with most wifi clients anyway

when the google wifi is doing a speedtest is it testing from the wired AP or with Mesh (wireless) one?

Wired AP, doing the mesh test is a seperate option.
