OK the move from 2.4G to 5G will be exponentially better. Check that 5G is enabled on the Vodafone Hub and/or check your PC card can do 5G. The investment is to get 5G on your PC.

True, although upstairs on other side of house isn't too far, hence why I was enquiring about the wifi card in the PC? If this has an external aerial it will be better.

likely at least 2 if not more walls away which is not great for 5ghz wifi

get one of these for your PC

will give you 5ghz AC wifi, and likely make it a bit faster

or try powerline

There are a lot of factors here, eg who else near you has 2.4G running and your building structure you could try an AC1200 / 802.11ac card in your PC, if it has a separate aerial that can help with positioning and signal strength. My thoughts are if you can see the 5G and get on a bandwidth no one else is on there there is less cross-interference. Just saw Uber Geek reply from Jase2985 I'd go with that :)

Are you happy to loose both of these plugs to one powerline adapter? They are bulky devices and are always tricky when used next to / above another plug. If you do need to electical plug for other devices, consider the passthrough powerline adapters.

I have Dlink ethernet over power where I live plugged in to the top socket with no problems using the lower socket.

@Solaela A little late to the party but I thought I’d add my 2 cents as I’ve used powerline adapters before. These double plugs are fine as has been pointed out they usually just split the same cable anyway.

More of an issue is the layout of your internal wiring and how the signal has to path through additional breakers/joints/etc. I was using the adapter to get signal up two stories and it worked quite fine for gaming.

Honestly, I suggest the best option is going to be to actually test it. You can get a set pretty reasonably and I think you will find they make a marked improvement over the Wi-Fi at that distance. ^Richard
