That's really cool.
Useful thread. I am still running a DS 210j which has been absolutely great (10 years) but time to retire. Now have a DS 220+ and 2 Seagate Iron Wolf 8TB drives coming from Amazon to replace. That choice has been prompted by trying to future proof as much as possible.

Just going to deal with needing an adapter on the power plug? Or is there a way to exchange the power lead in NZ?
Would the warranty be covered in NZ? Or if something goes wrong, would you be sending back to the US?
Cheers.

The power lead is swapable for one with an NZ plug no issue. I have had my DS210 for 10 years and it has never missed a beat so I have faith in the products. It is an international warranty but how practical it would be to exercise I am not sure.

Yikes, that's even older than my DS212j with 2 x 3TB which has operated 9 years without missing a beat, but now has one drive showing poor health. Also looking at a DS220+ with 2 x 8TB, just momentarily baulking at tbe $1,600 price tag.
I've taken cshwone's idea and decided to order the DS220+ from Amazon but now I am wondering about the best way to plug the unit into an NZ power socket.
A new power cord is UPC: 846504009121
As seen here: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NBPSYN00601/Synology-14-060045316-Spare-Power-Adapter-60W-v1
$41 + postage seems steep, I don't know much about power leads but is there a cheaper alternative way for me to get the job done?
Or would you just put up with the cheap plastic power plug adapters that a US tourist would use when they come here?
Cheers.

Been staring at that replacement power lead from PB Tech. Is this as simple as using a standard monitor lead to plug into the power lead that comes with the unit from Amazon? i.e. cost me nothing since I have 2 monitor/desktop power leads spare.

Yes. Assuming the original power adaptor is the same, it's an IEC 60320 C13. Exactly the same one as used for your monitor/desktop.
You would only need the replacement power supply if the box didn't support 230V AC at 50Hz. Almost all will, and if not, you can use any generic power supply with the same or higher power rating and plug/plug wiring.
I don't normally buy electronics from offshore for warranty peace of mind, but for the DS220+ at $580 delivered from Amazon versus $725 lowest local price, I'm tempted
As has been stated it's a standard jug cord and the box is 110/240.
Don't forget to add 4 Gigs of RAM if you order :)

Jugs will often have an IEC 60320 C16 inlet. The C13/14 is only rated to 70C, while the C15/16 is rated to 120C.
A C15 cable will fit into a C14 inlet, but a C13 cable will not fit a C16 inlet due to the latter having a notch to prevent the lower-rated cable being inserted.
Anyone here used B&H in the US? They're offering the DS220+ for US$339 delivered to NZ, so around the NZ$500 mark.
I ended up buying an ex-lease Shuttle PC with gen 5 Core i3. Will chuck Ubuntu and Plex on it, and see how it goes.
