I built a shelf and attached to the back of the fridge box above the fridge and put the router on that. Completely hidden and still get full coverage around the house. I really didn't want to look at the thing..
I managed to get the ONT installed on an internal wall, it's tucked behind other things, away from living room. Fixed the "too many lights" ISP router by replacing it with an Edgerouter 3 Lite, wifi from a saucer on the ceiling (no lights there at all).

Stolen from another website - maybe don't do it like this!
In Australia that could be an actual spider...

ONT's in NZ homes are about as discrete as a black eye.
I'm the only person I know with an ONT in a cupboard. Everyone else has theirs proudly blinking away in the middle of the dining room wall.

An Australian Huntsman - also found in Avondale, Auckland and known as an Avondale Spider. Very big and very fast. Terrifying for arachnophobes even though harmless.

Note that real spiders have better Wifi 😁
Fortunately my ONT was installed inside the entertainment cabinetry when my townhouse was built so no problems there. When I replaced my router recently I went with a TP Link Deco unit partly because they have really nice aesthetics. I barely notice it.
Don't you listen to these nasty men Deco. I think you're pretty and that's all that matters.

My ONT is behind the wine racks ... good enough reason to not allow bottle count to drop 😁
I see an untapped market here where they start making routers to look like things you'd find in an Instagram house.
