Ahh - sorry, my post got garbled in the pasting ... try this:

ProxyRequests off
ProxyPass /app1/ http://www.nzherald.co.nz/

<Location /app1/>
ProxyPassReverse /
</Location>

you'll get a 404 (file not found) if you don't include the trailing slash (welcome to the fun world of apache configuration).

403 forbidden - there may be an overriding allow / deny setting taking into effect here. Try adding in the location lines above to get that working.

In *theory* this will also work for differing port numbers on the servers, but I'm not too sure what will happen when you start looking at webservers internally that require authentication - I'm thinking embedded units here... (something to look in later;-)

wayhay!! got it working.

After the ProxyPass I did have to add:

Order deny,allow
Allow from all

And then it worked...Ok now to try and get it working on my webs inside my own network. Thanks for all your help.

Excellent - you'll need to have a further look over the detail in the link I'd posted earlier, as will will most likely need some rewriting of the code as it comes through (so that the links remain as you want them, rather than as something else.

You could also just simply setup multiple virtual hosts and host teh proxypass on the root of the website :-)
