You say your modem- wireless router is currently in your bedroom and I'm assuming the blu-ray player is in the living room.
Why not just re-locate your modem-router to the same room the blu-ray pleyer is in use the wireless to link to your PC?
Accessing the internet from a line extension socket - like in a bedroom - usually causes a significant reduction in connection speed. Find your master socket, probably in the living room (?) and plug in the modem there. Use the wireless connect the computer in the bedroom and all your other devices as your currently doing.
