richms: Who is selling those routers exactly? The open-mesh.co.nz site looks like a scam site with no company contact information and no GST number etc.

Product details are clearly just copied off a US site since it has 1, 5v power supply (US model, 110v) in the package contents, so would it even come with a legal NZ power supply or a US one that is useless here?

Companies in New Zealand do not have to register for GST if they earn under a certain amount, considering the business hasn't launched, I would say I fall into the category of business' that don't have to register. We had permission to copy that content, and they come with a legal NZ power supply/adapter.

Still no contact details on it other than a phone number, a very amature website that reeks of scam site and content layout and formatting issues.

If you intend to go ahead with this, pull that abortion, get a decent site together and relaunch, every view of that site is probably damaging your branding.

You will find that you cannot actually purchase any products off of the site yet.
This is because the company is not yet registered, as you mentioned.

Also, we were given permission from the American website owner to re-sell their products in New Zealand, and he gave us permission to re-produce the website with some variations, as well as to use their brand name.

About the US power adapter, I should probably change that, as they come with NZ adapters.

It is not a scam, contact Mike off the US website, he will verify it is in fact legitimate.

Have you got a direct email address for "Mike"? As i have emailed the US company letting them know their nz "distributor" is 14-15 etc etc...

to bring it back on topic.

i was looking at getting the WRT320N router from strongvpn, they are selling it for $109 USD, which is abou $150 in NZD.

doing a quick pricespy, the cheapest it is listed for in NZ, is $175. and i would have to mod it myself.

so i think thats a good deal

we get ripped in NZ on routers/switches etc from the name brands.

Most in the US have universal power supplies now, so if its for home use you can just use the supplied one on a travel adapter.

Had someone buy some and ship them to me back when the wrt54g was the in device.

Its alot cheaper if you are able to find a router that is capable to be flashed with 3rd party firmware in trademe or ebay and do the flashing yourself.

Sounds alright with your setup. If you have any extra ports left. Plug the remaining with your computer and connect your wireless devices to it aswell. Cause the connection is really fast .

BTW only do this if you're planning to get the Asus RT-N16 (this is the router am using), don't know about the others.

We sell routers that can be reflashed to pretty much any firmware (like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, Gargoyle, Robin-Mesh, etc.), on our website at www.open-mesh.co.nz. They are $60 each + Postage.

are you the person selling these on trademe? if so why the $10 difference in price? im considering one, since the $70 shipping fee.....

The $10 difference is just because I can get them in cheaper from Mike at open-mesh.com
