Go to Admin/Commands and enter the below. repeat the second line for each ip you want to bypass the vpn. The click "save firewall". Reboot router and all should be good. My firewall is disabled but these commands still work.

ip route add default dev ppp0 table 111
ip rule add from 192.168.10.8 table 111

The only thing you missing is that you not yet sitting in front of your TV enjoying Netflix....

Just make sure the router you buy is compatible with DD-WRT (Not the micro version, as it does not support openVPN). Your router will need at least 4MB flash memory, this is separate from the RAM. I made the mistake of buying a 2MB DD-WRT compatible router, installed the micro version and could not do the VPN part.

The other problem I am having as I am using my PS3 is that I now have to have 2 playstaion network profiles. I use the wired connection on the Ps3 for the VPN, and the wireless for standard gaming. It becomes a bit of a pain switching all the time.

Have not gotten Hulu+ to work as I am unable to register. But I can watch the standard stuff on my PC.

Thanks, I was thinking of buying one of these, Cisco WRT310n Wifi Router. Can't wait to try it out.

This looks like a great idea. What sort of speed are you guys getting out of Astrill? How does it compare with StrongVPN and others? Is the app tied to Astrill?

I will have a play around with this and might add it to my guide on gettting Netflix and other US/International Video and content services working in NZ. If anyone is interested in that I have posted it here:

I find Astrill fast and works well. I tend to use the NZ server most of the time unless i want to use Hulu/Netflix.

I am using with an x86 version of DD-WRT on an old PII with 512 of ram (I did not have any spare cash to get a new router) and this works great for my needs.

I measure how good it is by the lack of complaining from she who must have fast internet for youtube and so far there have been none. She is even happy with paying for the service

Yes the instructions are the same -- well that is what Astrill supported advised me to run to get the 2.0 version installed. They did not tell me they had added me to beta.
Try doing what I did, go to the Astrill 'Live Support' chat page and say you saw the tweet about Astrill 2.0 and wanted to know how to install it.

Hi Paul,
As far as using Netflix my speed it not great, I see about 2 bars on the quality scale when using the XBOX360. I have my Netflix quality set to "Better quality (up to 0.7 GB per hour)" but it plays glitch free 90% of the time.
Just did a test for you, set Astrill VPN to use Los Angeles, and then SpeedTest.net to use Palo Alto (Fiber Internet Center)
Tunneled via Astrill = Down 2.20Mbps, Up 0.54Mbps, Ping 210ms
Bypassing Tunnel = Down 2.52Mbps, Up 0.67Mbps. Ping 211ms
Repeated the test a few times, overall Tunneled reduced the Palo Alto bandwidth by about 10% or 15%, but did not change the ping latency.
As a baseline bypassing Astrill to World Exchange in NZ = Down 7.41Mbps, Up 0.68Mbps, Ping 44ms

The Astrill DDWRT integration has been nice right from the 1.0 release when I first started using them. Unfortunately the custom package they provide for DDWRT is tied Astrill, but I looks like the Geekzone DDWRT

hackers know how to get similar features using other VPN providers.

The StrongVPN DDWRT integration looked complex when I looked (almost a year ago), difficult to modify and lacked the features but I never did a performance comparison. http://strongvpn.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=268#p268

I now have this working on my DD-WRT router. Got an email from Astrill overnight to tell me they had put me in the Beta Testers group and to reboot the router.

I emails the support email address at the end of last week to get it done so it seems you do need to be a "Beta Tester" to get it working. So far i have found it great as i dont have to have all my devices going via the vpn which makes running my web-server for my weather station alot easier and less complicated.

You should be able to access it under the members section, then vpn services

Doesn't seem to work for Tomato as it's looking for /sbin/softwarerevision which doesnt exist

Speed depends on which servers I connect to in the US. It varies, I find the USA via singapore server the fastest, Canada servers also seem to be quiet fast. Normally the speeds are about 2.5-3Mb/s.

Video quality is excellent, and even when compared to TVNZ on the PS3 (which is local), Netflix is far better with no stuttering.

Are there problems getting Hulu working via the vpn services?
I won't be setting my kit up for a few months as I am travelling around at the moment but I also want to have a connection to the UK for Iplayer etc.
Can you have two VPN connections on the same router and route them down the specified route for where it needs to go or do you need two hardware routers to do this?

Hulu works perfectly on my laptop (the free version via your browser) with the Astril VPN. Its only a problem registering for hulu+ as its not possible to register with NZ credit card. The PS3 program only supports Hulu+.

Don't think its going to be possible to have 2 VPN's or two connections running to two different locations at the same time. If its is, its going to require a hack of some sort. I have not tried it.

Astill has different servers all over the world, its an easy step to change the VPN server via the routers web interface.

To watch Netflix (which is only available in Canada and the US), I just change the server to a US or Canada one. If I want to watch Vidzone for example (which is not supported in the US), its just changing it to a NZ one. You would do the same thing for Iplay and use a UK Astril VPN server.

That said, if you happy at just using your laptop to watch Hulu, Netflix and Iplayer then the Astrill software will be sufficient and you dont need any modified router with DD-WRT.

Are you using a PS3 or is this on your PC? Did you register for Hulu+?

Will try and install the BBC iPlayer on my PS3 and see what happens.
