nakedmolerat: i would still go for Thecus Tongue Out (no, i dont work for them) haha

i wish you all the best finding the right replacement!

I did my homework and found that some Thecus N42xx series owners in other countries having the same problem have either RMA'd their units or had full sets of replacement sata/power cables sent from their countries distributor with longer 26AWG grade sata cable to replace their factory 30AWG cables. I forwarded the info I had gathered with pictures to the retailer who forwarded them to the NZ distributor. The retailer responded that "the distributor dosn’t have those cables. They have been sent what looks to be standard sets to use in the repairs. They are sending you a courier ticket to return the unit for a full credit.
I would recommend looking for an alternative option"

I would have stuck with the Thecus if they could have fixed it properly.

Regards Allen.

yeah, it must be annoying for you. as mentioned earlier, my n4200 has been running 24/7 for more than 1 year, raid 5, 4 x 2 TB wd green. i think the issue could be related to the 'newer' n4200Pro/Eco
