Yes, the message pops up on ethernet and wifi. The DSL light stays on and internet connection light turns off, coming back after a few minutes.

Interesting.

I've kicked off a monitor. bare with it for 24 hours..

It looks to me like there was 3 DSL drops since the flick, one you hit 40/7 before dropping back down to normal. the rest look to be PPP only drops.

Could be something on the underlying connection - eg Errors on the line causing drops.

Following up on this one, Disconnections look to be dailer based.

Possible there is an alarm installed without a splitter? faulty filter?

We don't have an alarm. But I realised I hadn't put a DSL filter on all the landline phones in the house. I have plugged all of them into filters now. Not sure if that makes much difference though.

It will make a huge difference if anybody was trying to use one of the phones. That would have caused an immediate disconnect every time you picked up the phone.
