I can only think that there's something wrong on your Pocket PC's registry then, since recreating the connection fixes it. Have you though of a hard reset? Of curse, backup first, make sure you have all the applications to reinstall, make sure to delete the partnership without deleting the sync folder, copy the .pst file just in case, etc...

I don't really want to do a full reset, because I don't know what I would have to back up and there is too much important information on my PDA. I don't really mind that much having to make the modem again evry tiem i want to connect.
I do want to sort the other problem though, which ios the fact I can only go to IP addresses. I can ping both DNS and alt DNS servers from my PDA, so this shouldn't be a problem. can you think of anything else that could be stopping it accessing name addresses?

Another question is what type of Bluetooth network configuration you have. If you have PAN then you'll need to manually setup the Bluetooth configuration on your Pocket PC, including IP addresses and everything else (gateway, DNS, etc). If using LAP then it's all automatic.

PAN does not have a DHCP server and is used with Bridge. LAP uses ICS to provid DHCP information. You'll have to check what you have. LAP is configured as "Allow other devices to access the internet through this device" and PAN "Allow other devices to establish a private network" on your Bluetooth Advanced Configuration Services.

It is set up as a LAP, which makes things even more strange. Do you think it would be easier to set it up as a PAN?

Not really. I think LAP is easy because it provides the DHCP from ICS and you don't have to do anything. Unless you have conflicts on the network.

I can't think of anything else now .

Thanks anyway. It seems this problem isn't just confined to me, and it is a problem microsoft should resolve for future versions of thier pocket PC os's. I think I may just use activesync when I need to use the internet now, although I may have a play about when I'm bored. The solution obviously isn't much, it's just finding it that will take the time.
If I do find the solution, I will be sure to post it on here.
Thanks again for the advice.
