Hammoudhksa,

Regarding your problem with 1.4.1.6a:

First, uninstall any BTW software on your PC. Then, install the update from only the zipped files downloaded from the support site. You do not need to install the drivers from the 3.10 CD. The license.dat on the CD is outdated and seems to interfere with the new license.dat which requires a security key. Unfortunately, D-Link hasn't updated the install procedures and noted this.

Although I've never had a problem with the install of 1.4.1.6a, there is a known bug with Widcomm's security program under this release. Sometimes during the install process the security key entered fails to update. All that is required is to re-enter your key after re-booting.

Look at the D-Link's Knowledge Base under "Troubleshooting" for details from here:

http://support.dlink.com/SupportFAQ/default.asp?model=DBT%2D120%5FrevB3

The 1.4.2.10a is a separate issue, yet unresolved (maybe now resolved as in my success above). This is discussed in detail in this thread.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Devices Used: Nokia 3650 (v3.16), D-Link DBT-120 - Revision B3 (Widcomm 1.4.2.10a) & SE HBH-35 Headset.

==========Email to DLINK Support===============

It seems that you have a problem with the link below.
http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DBT%2D120%5FrevB3#
if you request the driver for B3 CD 3.1 you will have Driver for CD 3.30
Download 1.41 Built 6a ¤ Drivers for units with CD Version 3.10 or earlier.
¤ Large file (17MB) 10/2/2003
Download 1.41 Build 6 ¤ Drivers for units with CD Version 3.30.
¤ Large file (17MB) 10/1/2003

Please, correct the link because I lost a week because of that mistake and I still have to check again other site to get the proper driver.

Can I ask what might be to some a silly question?

What improvements does the new software make. I am using version 1.4.1 and it works perfect with the SPV E200.

I can't however receive files from my Nokia 3650, will this upgrade fix this?

1.4.2.10 is required/fixes the following:

1. Required if you're using Windows 2003.
2. Fixes an audio problem with the recording of voice using a BT headset in Windows XP (i.e. playback of a voice recording is doubled in speed).

AFAIK, these are the two main areas that requires the new release.

As to transfer of files for 3650, what type of files are you having trouble with? I use the 3650 and can sync. contacts, calendar and tasks with Outlook 2003. I can also transfer/convert media files (realone, quicktime, etc.) via PC Suite. With the help of applications such as File Manager, I can basically transfer anything I want (provided I have the space on my MMC in the Nokia 3650).

Cheers chris that helps a lot.

I have the SPVE200 smartphone which works fine, but I was trying to tranfer files on the 3650 without using the PC suite, which from what you say is not the way to do it.

It is similar to the E200, because with that, I first have to connect activsync via bluetooth, then I can drag and drop files and sync etc...

Well dink are ignoring all my emails. What is the matter with them. Without a doubt I will not beusing any more of their kit. Interestingly I was in London speaking to a number of shops who have just stopped stocking their kit as well. OK... so who has good after sales support?

TDK. I'd never recommend DLINK, and some folks know my reasons. But not receiving replies to e-mails is one of them...

I went to the D-Linkk 'UK' site and downloaded the latest drivers they have, which 1.42.6. I can now send files to my PC using the 3650 and with out having to use PC Suite.

Well, Working on XP SP2 RC1, bit of testing etc etc..... Just tried the built in Bluetooth support, well so far, it works better than the Widcom! I'm only using basic com access to the phone, no idea about other features you might use.

Well it worked fine yesterday, but not today!!! so XP SP2 RC1 has a few probs. Here's the error message I'm getting. This appears in the 'Event Viewer' under 'System', Source = BTHUSB

Windows cannot store Bluetooth link keys on the local transceiver because it cannot determine whether proper security is enabled for the device.

Windows XP SP2 RC1 is a release candidate, not a finished release. Users will find errors and problems. Are there any instructions on how to report faults? You should report it back to Microsoft to help fixing this kind of stuff.
