Heres my abismal network however it does the job well. gets confuding with all the IP's at times though.
and gets anoying when it plays up.
Image a network with only one PC that your not continuously munting up and spending hours of the phone to companys like microsoft.

If someone could make this apear like the others then that would be awesome

A lot of nice networks are showing up in this thread:D
Its been a long time since I've posted and my network has changed a lot.. As I'm typing this Im still making lots of changes to it..
Just the little cool features that make your life that little bit more enjoyable ;)

On the list:

  • 300 Gig external hard drive
  • "Broadband" / Always on internet connection at home and Wireless internet wherever out-and-about with my laptop
  • Hamachi private network - Allowing me remote access to files and such
  • VNC to my server
  • PHP + MySQL Private server <- Testing and HTTP access to files etc
Currently working on:

  • Finishing touches on the private server
  • Brining life back to my old router
  • Entertainment computer ( Music / Movies and things like Joost on the family TV )
And other little "fancy" things that will keep me from getting bored..
I'll put up a diagram when its all done ;) Might be some time..

Parallel Iomega ZipDrive 100
9 first generation MS sidewinder (MIDI port)

Iomega 250GB external
Canon Inkjet

(these last three are hanging off the SBS server, a wopping PII 350 [ MMX, I'll have you know] )

Canon Scanner
UPS for the SBS (common american one that I can't remember)

This is an updated LAN diagram... Note that the Geekzone server is in my VPN, but not located here - so although part of the LAN I am not adding it to the diagram.

Added:

Windows Home Server
UMPC
Skype Dualphone
Squeezebox

Wicked to see this thread is still going!
I've just moved, plans include smart wiring and generally bringing the house into the digital age.
My plan was to make a new blog entry with each step, but now that this threads open again it may have to go in here.
It's all going on the LAN after all.

My general plan includes putting Cat6 in high bandwidth areas (The lounge - Multimedia, The ceiling / roof cavity - Wireless, My room - General greed, The garage - Server area). With Cat5e going everywhere else. Maybe even a decent VoIP solution (If those in the house can live with it). If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. :)

After a UPS purchase that didn't provide the functionality I needed, it has been moved to the lounge. Does UPS in your lounge give you extra geek points?
