youngs: Firmware 1.0.9.4 for GWN7000 released. Will try upgrading tonight once the wife is off the internet.

Good luck with it.

One of the first things I did when I got my 7000/7610 pair was switch of automatic updates. All of my updating has been via tftp, including a rollback from a beta version, quite some time back, to get back from mismatched software versions. I'm still on 1.04.23. The second link posted by @CutCutCut back on 06 Aug states explicitly that speed issues are still not fixed* so, as my UFB connection is being upgraded to gigabit (well almost) in 5 days, I'm not going to bother with this upgrade either.

*A subsequent question asking if speed issues are going to be fixed has not been responded to, which indicates to me that the answer is no. Given this I'm intending to start looking for a new router/AP set up in the new year.

@youngs - any update on this? Has the speed issue actually been fixed? The documentation provides no insight.

Negatroid.

Mine is sitting in a box, I might have to break it out and give the new firmware a bash.

My GWN7600 AP's are running fantastically though, haven't touched them in months.

Edit: Also here

I'm currently running firmware 1.0.9.4 on my GWN7000, and firmware 1.0.9.13 on on my two GWN7610 access points (with the GWN7000 as a master).

It's all working well, except that the speed is still limited to 300 Mbps down and up on a gigabit connection.

So the problem still exists. I'd switch to a Ubiquiti setup but it's not quite bad enough to make spending the money worthwhile.

I take it the speed issue still hasn't been addressed. Did anybody have any luck getting it to work full gigabit without rolling back to the old firmware?

Doesn't look like it.

Nope!

I added my 2c to the dumpster fire, but really I think I will give up on it at this point. They might get around to fixing it, but the fact that they still continue to sell GWN7000s as a gigabit router is pretty misleading and disingenuous.

I love my GWN7600 APs, but I will think twice before buying ANY Grandstream product after this.

Damn, I've just recently installed a GWN7600 and an AP, wondered why I wasn't seeing a great download speed when I also upgraded to a Gigabit plan.

Love having the router running off my POE switch without a power supply.  Is there an alternative that others would recommend.

Sorry, not sure I understand the configuration here. Are you saying you have a GWN7000 hooked up to a GWN7600 WAP?

In which case, yeah, the GWN7000 has been gimped to ~350mbits up/down since v1.0.6.32.

Yup! Frustrated! Nobody from the company seems to even address the problem with consumers. Pretty poor.

Yes a GWN7610 access point.

Is there any way of downgrading to the older FW that worked ?

I reluctantly gave up on the Grandstream router. It is undoubtedly very powerful, and it was enterprise-level reliable, but its functionality is so far above what I need as a consumer, and it missed the functionality that I needed. At least I think it did. The hobbled speed finally pushed me to switch.
I'm now on a good consumer router (purchased off a fellow GZer) which lets me turn off kids' devices easily with the built-in Wi-Fi disabled, and using one Grandstream GWN7610 plugged into it for Wi-Fi. This setup is utterly reliable, and covers my house just fine. Moreover, I don't need to spend hours looking at Youtubes to try and figure out the concept behind controllers, or provisioning an AP means.

What are you using now? I’m going to have to look at changing as well but don’t really want something that’s too much to setup.

An Asus RT-AC87U. It handles my 900/500 quite happily. It's running the Merlin firmware, which extends the basic functionality a bit, and is regularly updated.
It is a decent consumer router rather than the enterprise level one that the Grandstream one was, but it does the things that I need as a consumer better. The Wi-Fi appears decent, but I am relying on the grandstream AP for that instead. Given that a lot of consumer routers seem solid except for their Wi-Fi, this is the best of both worlds.
