They are in the datacenter on the corner of Queen opposite Whitcoulls. Their connectivity is provided by Voyager (started by Seeby Woodhouse, the guy who started Orcon). I talked to the guy that runs it about his setup before he began and I think he is fairly clued up.

A bit worry about it's an one man band.

I'm really appreciated your help.

I have been using there co location for about 5 months now, and so far so good.

The guys there are knowledgeable and friendly. However i find that the best way to contact them is via email i usually get a reply within 10min if its urgent.

Only down side is that there is no unescorted access so you will need to get someone to come out. Not to much of a issue for me as i will be putting in a IP KVM on my server soon.

Also the network is shared so if someone is being attacked or using all the bandwidth there is a good chance that your speed will be hit.

However that being said at this moment I am getting a 2ms ping 88.79 Down 67.89 Up. You can get your own connection in to the building but you will end up paying heaps for it.

From what i have been able to tell there are about 5 guys working on the data center side of things.

They are just starting up and from what have told me they are looking to hire more people.

I have yet to have any major issues.

Hope this helps.

I think there pricing is really good.

For $149.00 + GST(Less if you go on contract) i am getting unlimited internet, 350W power and rent. Most of the other co-locations i looked at where ether over $500 a month or or never got back to me.

Geoff

BTW at the moment they are not monitoring the international data hence why i say above it is unlimited. However i have been told that should change at some point at which time you will still have 40 gb international data. which for me is still more than enough for me. If 40gb is not enough in the future then they have unlimited bandwidth for $49.95 a month

Most of the above is on there co-location page http://www.webslice.co.nz/colocation/ if you click on customize you will see some extra options.

thanks a lot for the reply.
someone mentioned Data centre at NorthCode which is Orocon's one.
What's the comparison with DATA centre in town?

I've found very cheap price, they are using Northcode one and they only charge for $100/mth for unlimited national data, 40GB international, dual ports and power, /29 (5 usable ip addresses.)
Does this one sound right? or not really a business grade thing.

Cheers,

Are you sure you don't mean Northcote? Where the Orcon HQ is?

On that note a quick Google leads to an article relating to a power issue in 2007.

Another alternative could be Hosting Direct.

You need to compare apples with apples. Do an excel table, and compare the different options. As many people will say, you get what you pay for. It sounds like you are doing this for business, so make sure there is a SLA or similar with whoever you choose.
If some are charging a lot more, then you need to ask yourself why.
