I have an old iPod mini that has pretty bad battery life (and has been replaced by a much nicer iPod nano). Now the sensible person in me would replace the battery and give it to the wife to use. However, I'm not that sensible. Anyone got any suggestions for a cool thing to do with an old iPod?

enable disk use on it, and use it to backup your important documents/photos automatically when you plug it in

Universal remote?

There are guides out there for various ways to turn an ipod into programmable remote... bit of a DIY project though

lol.... ipod doesnt have an RF or IR transmitter, it would probably cost more to do that (including the devaluation of the ipod) than to buy a logitech harmony base model or something ;-)

Possibly, though I do remember reading through a DIY that was inexpensive but a tad time consuming. It CAN be done... and yes I realised ipods don't have a RF or IR transmitter.. hence the DIY :)

Take out the hard drive and replace it with Cf card...
You could also turn it into a dock for your nano :)
