I need some new headphones after my puppy decided to destroy the Sony ones I have. Does anyone have some suggestions on a good pair within a budget of $100.

I love music and am missing the use of headphones.

Cheers

Sennheiser. The more expensive the more comfortable and longer lasting cable etc. But even the cheapest one has good sound quality (I'm a full time electronic engineer and part time sound engineer). Shure is also good, but a bit expensive.

Grado SR125i Prestige Series Open Headphones - gnfb is selling a pair of them cheap here - if you link them in with a headphone amp you've got a pretty sweet setup.

If you don't like them, then your best bet is some Sennheiser or Logitech Ultimate Ear IEM's

I have the cheapest Sennheiser model and they are good. A bit strong clampy on the head is all, and 'tuned' for a pretty flat response, so may not sound as impressive initially, but you can listen to them for a long time without getting fatigued. Good bang for buck. They're used a lot in music shops for listening posts.

I have a pair of Senn HD595's but for your budget get a pair of Koss Porta Pros. They are superb.

They look ridiculous, but where does one purchase these in NZ?

I was just laughing at myself, as in a few years I'm going to have to explain to my kids how people used to go to a shop to buy music...

I got some of the newer version of these (C20's).  Just thought I'd mention it as it's in your price range.

I've now sold mine though, as I found them good on international long haul flights, but practically useless on domestic noisy ATR type aircraft.
