Warehouse Stationery are now selling Makerbot 3d printers.

Still out of my price range, but now they are going "main stream" the prices might start comming down.

Interesting,

Does this imply that there is now official in-country support and service,

or are WHS simply importing from via a distributor in another country ( or from makerbot direct) and will have to return anything to them for any issues..

For reference US pricing on the Unit is $2199 ex tax, so WHS have around 20% markup (if they will provide after sales support/service, it might be justifiable paying, ) while the filament is $48 exc.

I happen to have a DiamondMindv1 http://www.mindkits.co.nz/store/3d-printing.

It's a good little kit and because it runs reprap which is modifiable unlike the makerbot. Right now I have a Raspberry Pi hooked up to it to run the jobs and display the status of the print.

I still unfortunately think that 3D printing is not really ready for the mainstream.
Tested.com had a good video going over the issues and pros of 3D printing right now that I think is accurate of the situation

Prices are getting better but unless you have a real application I would hold off.

Pretty sure that as the importer/retailer, it's on The Warehouse Group to handle all support and service under the Consumer Guarantees Act. And no, making you wait for them to ship it back to the US for service would definitely run afoul of the "reasonableness" clause on time to repair things.
