Just purchased the Kindle Paperwhite 2 and signed up for the Kindle Unlimited 30 day free trial.

What I didn't realise is that not all ebooks in Amazon are 'Read for Free'.
For anyone who uses Kindle Unlimited, do the ebooks you have to pay for, eventually become 'Read for Free'.

Also, whilst browsing the Kindle Store I happened to see that individually the Hunger Games books (1-3) are 'Read for Free', but 'The Hunger Games Trilogy' as a collection is USD $17.99.

Has anyone started off with the Kindle Store and then moved to another ebook service and if so, which one?

The Region is USA.
Sorry, but I don't understand the point you are making.

I think the point he's trying to make is that across the board on most online subscription services, regional content rights play a big part in what you can be offered depending on what region/country you used at sign up.

Have no idea about Amazon myself but I wouldn't be surprised

From Amazon:

We'll display your country or region at the top of the Kindle Store so you know that you're browsing the catalog of titles available for your country or region. Availability and pricing of titles can vary by country.

  1. Visit Manage Your Content and Devices, and then click the Settings tab.
  2. If the displayed country is incorrect under Country Settings, click Change.
  3. Select an existing home address from your Amazon account or enter a new one.
  4. When you're finished, click Update.

You need an address (my YouShop one worked for this) to use, but YouShop worked for me.
