Looking at picking up the latest model Raspberry Pi (B+) from PBtech this weekend, but confused about the power requirements. Some people say it works fine on the typical R Pi power adapters (2.5A 5v) but others saying they arent enough.

 

Anyone have real world experience and can advise ?

2a will power the PI fine. supplying it more is never a bad thing.

 

 

 

think they normally come with 2.5A adapters.

I am using a 2.5a 5v tablet charger, works fine.

Daughter will be stoked, we got given an original Pi by someone on here, but since my daughter found RetroPi, she wants a faster one to run more retro games (along with her learning what else it can do).

If you're going to run peripherals (e.g. relays which take a bit of current to switch), you will also need to allow for them in your power supply calculations.
