Came across a few smart watches on gear best, ranging from a (USD) 25 Xiaomi version 2 to some 500 ones.

Don't want to spend more than US50.

Are those any good or are they garbage (either don't work properly, break easily, poor battery life, etc, any reason)?

That company tried to recruit existing GZ users to post paid spam links on GZ. So that is why their name is now a banned word.
