Hi all.
I have built a new house in the last year or so and neglected putting smart lights/switches in as I didn't think that there was many options available at the time. I have started playing around with Google home and integrating everything to work with voice as well as smart phone control. I feel like the lights are one of the biggest features in a smart home and are a necessary addition to routines to make them more seamless. So the time has come to do something about it but I am disappointed at the lack of results showing up for components available in New Zealand.
I am basically looking for switch module of some sort that is WiFi enabled or compatible with Google home, IFTTT, etc. I'm not talking about a light switch that physically mounts to your wall with WiFi built in, I'm talking about something similar to a Sonoff switch that you can wire in line (that I could hide in the ceiling or wall). I thought I was really onto something with these but I am struggling to find evidence of certification here in New Zealand. This would allow me to use my existing down lights for only a few hundred dollars. I just absolutely cannot afford to risk my house going up in flames and the insurance not coming through because of non-compliant gear. If anyone can update me on certification for these it would be appreciated.
The other option I thought of was possibly replacing a lot of the down lights in the house with smart down lights but can't seem to find many available at a reasonable price, again that are compliant in NZ. I have seen the Zemismart down lights on YouTube and they look like they would do exactly what I want but not sure about the certification. I would rather not replace my existing lights as they are near new already. Replacing the down lights is also not really a proper solution to me as I have LED tube lights in the garage and outdoor lights that I would like to control as well.
If anyone can recommend some products out there that can achieve this please let me know.
Cheers!
