I usually buy a bunch of them when I am overseas, and so far, I've had decent luck, even with weird brand ones, but it's been a while and I'd be interested to know if anyone has a good source, ideally in NZ, for cheap ~1m USBC to USBC cables?

Stuff that does full speed charging is primarily my interest, but if they are also good for data transfer, that's good too.

I look for decent rated ones on Amazon.com / Au if I'm not in a hurry, buy a half dozen at a time. Otherwise I look at pbtech and read the reviews. Most recently I got a Samsung fast charger, it comes with a good thick USB-C cable that all works well.

Yeah, that's pretty much where I am at as well. Wait isn't too long, about a week from Amazon.com.au. Amazon.com is hard right now as the exchange rate is awful.

The 100W Baesus ones on AliExpress seem good, braided outer coating seem to work well with everything I've tried though they're only USB2 for data.

I usually get them from Ali for Baseus, Ugreen etc., the odd times from PB for Xiaomi or Momax cables when they are on special.

Also always get the 5A/100W cables so can charge my Samsung at 45W.

I've had good luck with the Belkin cables from PB Tech. Expensive from the big name shops, however it is cheaper and sometimes on special at PB. (I also find Belkin great for car chargers with excellent fast charge support).

Samsung cables are good too--not cheap but at least you know it does the job. I've had a few come with phones but have also bought them outright as well. All still going strong.

With good brands like Belkin, Samsung, Apple, etc I don't bother checking the capabilities. All the good brand-name cables I have support 100W power and data transfers no issues at all.

Not sure I'd buy from overseas given the dodgy stuff they may send instead of what is described. YMMV.

I got about 5 from Ali express at 3.25 each on their bulk deals. Stuck with brands like toocki basseus and ugreen and they all seem decent for the money I paid and so far have done fine charging at 65W laptops. They seem nice than the ones Samsung chuck in with things rates at 45W.

The ones Samsung include in the box don't support 5A which is what you need to get the 45W charging speed.

Sorry for late reply, but wanted to give a shout out for the Belkin cables I've just bought from PB Tech. The Boostcharge cables are really high quality - they feel like they'll last a long time. I've bought tons of cheapies off Amazon and Aliexpress and even the good quality ones don't last that long. These Belkin cables are braided and have a good weight to them. The USB-C cables have a rating of 240W, so they should be future-proofed.

If you stick with known-good brands you should be fine, as you say Baseus and Ugreen are two examples. Anker seem to be the gold standard, then in the same rank as Ugreen etc are Essager and JuiceEBitz, all of which should be fine.

Amazon also has the problem that it's overrun with fake reviews, so if you order by rating you'll get sources like Kung Pao Best Cables of Alley #5, Shenzhen with all five-star reviews ahead of actually good cables.
