Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for a home security system with Apple HomeKit support? the Abode system looks good but I can’t see that’s it’s easily available in NZ, and I did come across some posts (from 2017, 2018) saying the radio range it uses might not be compliant here.

Thanks for any help.

I have the original Konnected.io solution. Not that reliable in terms of hardware but thinking of upgrading. Connects via HOOBs or Homebridge.

I installed a basic Bosch alarm with the network module, then connected it to HomeKit via Home Assistant. Not an out of the box solution, but good fun to install and set up, and it works perfectly in HK.

Thanks, Jon. Can you elaborate on the reliability part? Have you had issues with Konnected? This is what I've been looking at, as it seems pretty reasonable (just not sure how it connects to the current siren and the outside light).

Thanks. Was the process to connect it to Home Assistant pretty straight forward?

My recollection is yes. Set up Bosch system, then I think the relevant HA addon automatically found the system on the network and made it available to homekit via the HK addon. I also set up the alarms motion sensors as HK motion sensors, haven’t used them for anything interesting yet. It was an awesome DIY project, cheapalarmparts.com.au was great for the parts and instructions.
