We're up for another chromebook for school, each one ends up broken.

I'm sure there are a million suggestions on how to try and prevent this, and I promise you we've probably tried them all, but that's not what I want to address.

I happened to see Noel Leeming advertising damage protection warranty on their products.  For a chromebook this is about $150 for 3 years, with a $100 excess if making a claim.   Sounds like this might be a good option for us given a chromebook is ~$500.

The question is, are Noel Leeming good on these warranties?  We made a claim once before on a defective switch (gaming machine) and they were atrocious, tried to fob us of at every step and eventually sent it away to be fixed and it took a load of follow ups and 4 MONTHS to get it back.

Are they better if you've got one of these warranties?

Does anyone have experience making a claim with them?  I'd like to know if they're worth the paper they're written on or whether they will say it was misuse rather than accidental damage etc etc.

Basically: are they worth it for a product that a school kid is rough with, will they be our get out of jail free card.

Just a little tip from the sidelines: If you have comprehensive content insurance for your home, this might already be covering accidental damage to your kids chromebook.

I would have a quick chat with your insurance company so you don't end up paying double up.

Unfortunately we're running a $500 excess, so it isn't worth it.

If you still qualify for no claims discounts then this would end up costing a lot more than just buying another chromebook.
