Anyone know anywhere in NZ where you can get a car audio system that has direct (integrated) support for iPods?

I know that some have auxilliary input, but it would be better to get one that actually connects properly via a USB connection / iPod dock - to allow charging, changing songs via the main unit control panel etc.

They do exist, apparently, but not sure where to find one in NZ. :(

wait a bit longer, more car audio companies are bringing them out as they recently (few months ago) that there was a few announcement made on internet that they just have the license from Apple.

if you have fair recent cars (Mercedes or BMW, or Audio i think) you can get the IPOD unit installed. :-D

otherwise you will need to wait for Pioneer or Alpine and perhaps JVC too to bring out the ipod unit. apparently, (not sure if is) Pioneer (or) Alpine has a cd-changer-sort-of-unit to link Ipod to the head unit.

I installed a cheapie (from trademe) into friends car that has usb/sd card/cd/radio which for the price was pretty cool. Might consider buying one myself. Aparantly it can play ipod connected via usb but it doesnt charge it. Not that either of us have an ipod but to play sd cards was good enough for us.

i saw one on DSE. however, i doubt that it can play songs from Ipod though.. since it wont recognise AAC format...

I could be wrong though.
