Disrespective: Update applied and seems to be fine.
One thing that has always bugged me is that when plugged into the laptop over USB on the screen it says that I could eject it from the machine but leave it plugged into the USB port and should then be able to use the kindle as per usual. I've never been able to do that, I always have to remove the cable to use the Kindle again. Anyone ever been able to get that working?

If you're on Windows 7, you need to go into Windows Explorer and choose "Eject" from the right click menu for the Kindle removable drive. Don't use the taskbar icon for "Safely Remove Hardware", that won't work.
