Update applied and seems to be fine.

One thing that has always bugged me is that when plugged into the laptop over USB on the screen it says that I could eject it from the machine but leave it plugged into the USB port and should then be able to use the kindle as per usual. I've never been able to do that, I always have to remove the cable to use the Kindle again. Anyone ever been able to get that working?

Don't apply this if you've jailbroken/installed hacks on it, yet. Also 3.1 breaks the existing jailbreak methods, I believe..
When will Amazon learn and implement at least some of the hacks people have written?

@Disrespective: I've always been able to unmount the kindle from my PC and use it normally.. I'm on 3.0.3 atm.

I wish I'd known about the 'jailbreaking' you can do to the Kindle before I'd seen the update 'cause I've already applied the update!!

And I've never had a problem with the USB connection / charging while reading. Are you using the USB cable that came with the Kindle or a generic one? I've found (on my Android) that if I don't use the cable that came with the device then things don't work quite as well as they should...

If you're on Windows 7, you need to go into Windows Explorer and choose "Eject" from the right click menu for the Kindle removable drive.  Don't use the taskbar icon for "Safely Remove Hardware", that won't work.

Perfect, there we go. Cheers.

This update is now live for all customers. If you turn on your WiFi the device should update itself after it goes to sleep.

You can manually download it from the link above.

If you have installed the update during the beta it won't update again, seeing it's the same one.

Ugh! I understand the need for "auto updates" but it's gone and auto updated and broken the jailbreak. x.x
