Hi

Brought my son a Kindle Wifi for his birthday for later this month and have just realised that he only has a wired modem. Can he download books to his computer and then transfer to his Kindle or do books have to come through Wifi.

Unfortunately I live in a different town so he can't download via my Wifi.

as indicated above, just plug it into the pc, go to amazon.com, buy your books and they load super fast onto your kindle, once bought you can also put the same item on your android or pc unlike itunes where every copy is chargable amazon appears to licence you rather than the device
