kiwifidget:

@insanekiwi , was it a Toll courier that did the delivery or was it someone else?

I saw a Toll van driving around my town this morning, so I shot home.

That was 3 hours ago, so I guess they are not coming today.

I've been all over the Toll website and I cannot find a phone number to follow up the delivery.

Was Toll.

Mine (ordered from Dicksmith) arrived today. Setup was a breeze and appart from scaring my 3yo and the cast, it's been doing a great job, including getting itself between chairs, etc... took 30min to clean the lounge/dining area and did a pretty good job. That thing is smart as ;-)

Most of all it also got the wife's approval which is really all I could have been hoping for ;-)

wow, it came in a box, in a box, in a box. Made in China, clearly packed by Russians.

Wee problem, when I try to install the app on my tablet (from Google PlayStore) it says "Your device isn't compatible with this version".

GRRRR!!!!!!

Edit : phew, it installs on my phone.

Do you have to "sign up" to use it?

Edit Edit : I guess so, coz I did and its away working.

As suspected it is having a hell of a time on the rug made of a million shoelaces.

Also not too flash with pine needles.

PS does the app have to be installed on a device with cellular capability?

I've read that any ordinary magnetic tape works.  Like those sorts used on cheap fridge magnets.

So what's the deal with the Vacuum <=> Phone communication.

I expected this to only work when the phone was on the same local network but this morning I received a notification, while at work, that my vacuum was starting a clean... (note, I was not hooked up to a VPN or anything like that.)

I then tried to use the app to spy on the vacuum but it didn't seem to work (said Device offline)

Anyone know how that's supposed to work?

vacuum just connects to your wifi, wifi to internet, internet to their servers.  you  phone app just connects to internet and their servers too.

so basically "the cloud".  nothing is done local.

Cool, so technically, I should be able to see the bot going about its business, on the app, from work, right?

Mine seems very patchy then. Only got one notification about the start then nothing. It now says device offline... I wonder if there's something it doesn't like about my home wifi... I normally get pretty good coverage
