Why not just set it to NZ time as per the link to the hack in my previous post??

I just set it to NZ as mentioned before and it has handled DST just fine. Only problem I have with time on it is its insistance on being in AM/PM that I cannot find any way to change.

Have tried to buy always get an error 400 and can't complete it. Used Pacific/Auckland but just can't get the time sorted. If there was a video id be able to see where I went wrong. Anyone got a video link?

The timezone should just be entered as NZ

I had this problem, and it turned out I missed a " in the right place. Pretty much everything should be within quotes and separated by commas.

the correct text in timezone field is:  "Pacific/Auckland"

Enter the text exactly as I have typed instead of the word "null" and hit the Send button top right of the requests window. You should get a '200 success' response instead of '400 error'

Note- to get a 'PUT' entry in the requests drop down menu you will probably have to change the device location zip code in echo settings and save changes again

I put Pacific/Auckland also worked. Either way, only one place to change.

I see little point contacting Amazon Echo support about this it was only ever designed for the US market.

BIG GAMECHANGER!

Hi guys,

I downloaded this free app called Yonomi from the Play store and it works so well I want to share it. This app allows you to add amazon echo devices to your smart home in the alexa app, so instead of saying things like 'trigger' through IFTTT or other commands, you can programme what you want it to say and skip the 'trigger' sentence. For example I used to say 'trigger turn on kitchen lights' that are wemo but now through Yonomi I just need to say 'turn on kitchen light' and Alexa says okay. It makes things so much easier!!!

Also, with my harmony hub I dont need to say 'trigger turn on TV' to Alexa, now I just say 'turn on TV'.

Anyone else using this free app?

Anyone got any Lifx bulbs hooked up to Alexa and using them to change colours? I watched a YouTube video and you can press a button on your harmony remote and the bulbs will change colour (ie when your rugby team scores lol).

I have ordered two at $130 free shipping which is a reasonable amount in my opinion. Here's the details:

http://www.lifx.com/products/color-1000?variant=8930382531 (order two for a discount)

use: AMBASSADOR5OFF for US$10 off also.

Anyone using Lifx colour bulbs? How are you using them??

If you are using Wemo devices then you dont need to use IFTTT, just add them to the Smarthome by discover devices, then they turn on and off without the trigger command anyway. Not saying the app is not useful, but not needed to bypass the trigger command for Wemo devices.

Cheers.

That only works for the plugs I have found, the wemo lamps that use the wemo link do not come up for alexa.

If this software allowed for them to do it, then it might be useful. But I will just push ahead and get openhab working I think.

The Wemo Bulbs need to go through IFTTT

I would if there was an Openhab image for raspberry Pi so I dont have to leave a computer on
