Thats great when you have an analog input. The amp in the kitchen is optical coax and USB input only. I get a bit of noise on the analog out which I think is a ground loop when I plug it into my big stereo. Not too bad but you can hear it from about a meter from the speaker.

Im just glad that it doesnt sound like the tap. That thing is aweful.

My Echo arrived today - but I can confirm the Chrome request maker workaround for setting time to NZ no longer works :(

That's strange, as it worked on my new Echo last week, although I think it took me a computer/browser restart to get the request maker plugin to work properly.

As documented here: https://devdiner.com/answers/setting-timezone-amazon-echo-outside-us

The 'PUT' field is no longer appearing in the Chrome extension.

Looks like there is another workaround using cURL but it's not working for me either.  So frustrating.

If you set the ZIP code to 96960 (Marshall Islands), it will be correct for NZ for the section of the year that's not DST.

It wont let me do this without specifying a street address.  The Marshall Islands only have PO box addresses.  How did you get around this?

I set mine up 4 or 5 days ago and it worked ok... had a heck of a job getting the Chrome Extension working right, maybe you just need to keep trying ?

I think you're right.  The PUT request came up *one time* but I got a 400 error.  I'mma keep trying.

I tried to change a bunch of settings and wasn't able to change any of the location fields, pretty sure it was only the timezone that was accepted.

Finally got it to work. Just had to try for a couple of hours before the PUT request finally came up. Was plain sailing from then on.

Just got my Dot today. I was able to use Request Maker to set the timezone to NZ.  Can't get local weather to work though but just a few more words to say (Alexa - what is the weather (in Wellington) )

Got my D-Link wall switches to work also. I just wish it had Google Music since I don't play Spotify or Pandora nor intend to buy them.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

That's a shame, Spotify rocks :-)

Spotify and Google Play are both good services and are generally pretty equivalent.  I prefer Google Play's integration with uploaded music and a few other features over Spotify (I've tried both), but Google's lack of an official public api is really annoying as it basically means no integration with third-party hardware..
