Companies may import from all over the world. Nothing really wrong with that, as long as they can handle warranty claims.

I'm aware of that, I'm just a little confused by the OPs comment in his other (now closed) thread that he's a) been put off because they import from Nigeria and b) thinks they import from Nigeria, and I would be interested in a source for this info. I'm fairly sure they import from a range of locations.

We're happy and we've had no problems with Parallel Imports. Shop staff have been very knowledgeable.

One small advantage of Parallel Imports is that they usually provide English documentation on a disk in the box. We've found this for everything we've bought or looked at. That's not always the case with other importers and you have to go looking for the documentation yourself.

Import tax should be only 15% GST, and you get invoiced only if the GST is $50 or more. Any other fees might be from brokers, but there should not be any for residential addresses. I've found that when I get items deliver to work there is usually GST charged, but when delivered to my home I don't recall ever being charged. I import virtually all my car parts (Volvo, very expensive in NZ) and appliance repair parts (latest is a fan for a 3 year old Smeg fridge freezer, which is actually Daewoo and lucky it lasted that long!).

You can never have enough Volvos!
