Hi

Is the above hack likely to work with the 3rd generation NEST.  I have gas boiler which heats water for my radiators throughout the house.  Thinking of using a NEST since I can incorporate it with other home automation solutions

Cheers

Dazza

I haven't got a 3rd gen to try it with but it's likely to work in the same way so I'd guess the hack would work too.

Not much help I know.

Hi Dazza,

Yup, I'm pretty sure it should. I have a friend with a 3rd Gen Nest and it works.

I still haven't gotten my Home Away Assist to work but the standard Home Away motion sensor will work.

Can anyone explain the difference between the UK and US versions of NEST.

From this post I presumed I had to buy a UK NEST due to some voltage issue.

But is it more a case of what matches your heating solution?

My gas fitter has installed a number of US units here in NZ with only a little bit of tinkering.

It's voltage- us work off 12v IIRC. UK is 240v and has a separate unit that connects to your boiler. If your current stat is 12v then the is one would work for you

So the nest works good here in NZ after these 'hacks'?
