Sorry for jumping in here. This would be something that would work well for myself in a flatting situation where i want to save time and cook things easily and fast. How every i couldnt spend $2500 on a stupid food processor and cooker..
But anyhow, Just me or these people reviewing it stare deep into your soul.

It's a particular type of comedy used to exaggerate (arrested development and VEEP both use it, but I can't recall it's specific name), that they are employing.

They are pretty good at it.

Ouch! Retail in Germany is about EUR600-700 at the cheapest, and the things hold their value like an Apple product, even used you're unlikely to find any under maybe EUR500. In fact the comparison with Apple is probably quite apt, if Apple made an all-in-one it's be a Thermomix. So you could consider importing it yourself and save a small fortune.

However, you're still overpaying for something like that. There are lots (and lots, and lots) of equivalents (sold in Germany) that do the same thing, some cheaper, some more expensive, it's just that the Thermomix has aggressive marketing in NZ and the others don't. If you really want something like that, get Consumer's review of all-in-ones (summary: they're Jack of Some Trades, master of none) and buy based on that. I wouldn't pay more than a couple of hundred, but better yet I'd see what I really needed and get dedicated devices for just those functions.

UK: GBP1084 (NZD2045)
DE: EUR1109 (NZD1763)
US: USD1750 (NZD2560)
AU: AUD2089 (NZD2256)

Where did you find a price of EUR600-700 in Germany?

It was a TM31 I saw at some outlet place. I didn't know what it was, the person I was with pointed out that it was a good price compared to the RRP. I thought if that's a steal when I wonder what the RRP is...

Like Apple, Vorwerk are very, very selective about who they sell through, so apparently finding it at outlets is an exception.

The TM31 is the old model (2yrs old), the TM5 is the latest. Not sure of the price differences, but all those I quoted above were for the TM5.

If you mean "an exact copy of the Thermomix" then obviously none. If you mean "a general copy of the Thermomix specifically" then there's a pile of them sold in Germany (and nearby), but you need to be able to read German to get the details. For example the Krups one outperformed the Thermomix at half the (RRP) price. If you just want to get a cheapie, the MediaMarkt themomix clone came in just behind the Thermomix for EUR199 RRP.

Finally, if you just mean "all-in-one", see Consumer and buy based on their rating. Or, more probably, avoid based on their rating.

Edited to add: As with Consumer's reviews in NZ, the German consumer ratings for these all-in-ones are so-so, rating "Befriedigend" (meaning "OK") and lower. I don't think any were rated "Good" or "Very good". In general you wouldn't want to buy anything rated below "Good", products are specifically advertised as having been rated "Very good" or "Good", no-one ever advertises "OK" as a rating.

This is by no means a justification for the horrendou pricing but one of the great benefit of Thermomix is the recipe standardisation that comes with it.

You can google "<anything> + thermomix" and you will find a recipe ready to use with easy steps detailing which settings to use, etc... pretty fool-proof
