You get what you pay for. You could buy a cheaper unit and replace it twice or more but do you want the hassle?

I have a davis vantage vue which I paid about 700 for a number of years ago. I replaced the anemometer on it this year as it had seen a bit of wind over the years. Apart from that no issues. There are some compromises with the vue over the pro but if you can live with that then the price is good for a reliable unit.

I upload data to my own website, weather underground and the localweather.net.nz site. The latter has a forum that has lots of good info in it about options etc which is worth checking out

Cheers

I use the Netatmo weather station at home and really like it: https://www.netatmo.com/en-US/product/weather-station

You can also get rain and wind gauges and add extra indoor modules. Information is uploaded to Netatmo's site which allows you to look at other people's weather stations from all around the world.

I bought mine from Amazon and had it sent here via YouShop.

One issue with buying from Australia is the radiofrequency for data transmission are now different to nz.
Davis vantage pro used to have same firmware as Australia but government changed the data frequencies according to Davis NZ so need to use nz specific transmitter units.
