I've got one on my keyring but don't really use it. Another one floating around somewhere unused. I can't get in the car or lock the deadbolt without keys so haven't managed to leave them anywhere yet. My phone is the thing I tend to misplace, and didn't seem to be a whole lot of point in putting one on that (allegedly, you can make your phone ring from a tile but I've never been able to make it work). And have never had to call on the crowd finding thing, but there do seem to be hundreds of other users around (Wellington).

 

I doubt I will replace mine when the batteries give out. 

 

The thing is that when you actually need to find the keys with the tile on it, the battery will likely be dead anyway, as they only last a year. I beleive they email you when it is about to die, so you can order another one. But it would be far easier just to be able to replace the battery, than have to order and wait for another, and you also have the waste of throwing the perfectly good one away. I believe they recycle them if you are in the US. There is a youtube video of someone opening one up and replacing the button battery, but it looks like hard work to cut it open.

It sounds like you don't have a Tile because "I believe they email you when it is about to die" it's not exactly how it is. The alerts you almost a month in advance. This is more than enough time to order a replacement. 

Once ordered you don't have to wait much. I ordered four replacement tiles on a Tuesday New Zealand time and received these here in Wellington on Friday. These came all the way from New York via Fedex.

For comparison someone sent me something via Courier Post overnight delivery, Auckland to Wellington on the same day. I didn't receive this until the Monday after. So yes you can get Tiles all the way from New York faster than you can get something to come down from Auckland.
