The only effect on your house network (LAN) will be data usage, just like any other Ethernet or wireless connection.

rhy7s: Not a fan of extenders/repeaters, if using WiFi much better to have two radios, an external bridge and an AP hung off that.

 

 

Speaking of WiFi bridges, I'm using an Edimax BR-6428NS V4 for this, it does a great job and runs off 5V USB power, so you can power it from a UBEC. I use it to provide electrical isolation between my outdoors devices and the internal network.
