nas:How about the novel approach of talking to your neighbour?
That often doesn't work. In my case the response was along the lines of "shrug, well, sucks to be you". I guess the OP is in a similar position.
kryptonjohn:I'm not allowed by SWMBO to set a cat trap so am thinking about getting something like this:
That depends on the cat, if it's a ginger it may well be attracted by it. One of my neighbours' gingers sits in the sink when they run the laundry to get sprayed by the water. OTOH my grey-and-white hates water.
My uncle is a retired sheep farmer and he installed mini electric fences around the borders of his gardens about 10 cm off the ground. Not sure how effective it was long term or if the cats learned to jump over it.
A mate of mine took this to the nth degree by piping captured images off to a predicative vision engine. I am advised his only goes off when it sights a cat:

Probably won't work for the OP, but I successfully stopped cats pooping in my garden with a $2 packet of bamboo skewers. Poke them in the ground about 2 cm apart in affected areas (this was after years of trying and failing with commercial solutions and home brewed concotions that used up all my spicy chilli more than once).

kryptonjohn:2 or 3 years back I had a lot of trouble with 1 cat in particular spraying everywhere and none of suggested remedies worked. Out of desperation I bought a cat sprinkler. Its funny watching the cat even now as it wont come in but instead walks on top of the fence to go to next neighbour. Was the only thing that worked. Had the side benefit of saturating unwelcome door knockers when they took a shortcut across the lawn to the front door rather than the footpath
Hi All, we keep our cat indoors at night so it keeps out of trouble. However the neighbours can't be bothered and one cat in particular needs to be sorted out. It hangs around certain areas and I suspect sprays as well. I'm not allowed by SWMBO to set a cat trap so am thinking about getting something like this:

Looking around there are a few options including this one which is solar charged, and others that just run on batteries. I'd like one that only activates at night so our own cat, or visitors at the front door don't get blasted!
Anybody tried one of these or have a better idea.
I repeat: I am not allowed to "take out" the neighbour's little POS cat. Sadly.
Cheers
JohnO
When we were troubled by feline nuisances in the city some years back we used ScareCrow sprinklers with good effect. I see they're currently available from Easytek, https://www.easytek.co.nz/scarecrow.

No joke, GBW. The pacifist faction (SWMBO) in coalition with the consumer faction (kids) has the upper hand over the revenue earning faction (me).
Get a dog - Should be quite easy to sway the consumer faction to your side, and easier to get the wife on board too if you get a puppy.
Train the dog to be nice to your cat, and from what i have seen before, most stray/neighbor cats steer well clear of any dogs.
Works a treat at home for us, the two German Shepard's keep all cats out of our place.
Hmmm, that would be an extremely popular option in the household.
Ask the local Zoo to see if they will sell you the Urine from the bigger cats and dogs that live there.... that should work.
Replacing stinky cat pee with stinkier big cat pee kinda defeats the purpose, Goosey!
Just ordered a "Catfree" ultrasonic thingy from Easytek. Will let you know if it works.

I will hold you to that! :-)
Look forward to hearing accounts of saturated cats springing off your property.
In particular I'm interested in how you get on with:
Leakage - you might need to get a good quality hose and set of connectors for it.
Setup and fine-tuning.
Good luck!
