Nice project Nate.  I built something similar last year (although a more cut-down version) to integrate my home automation.  It alerts me on my iPhone if a PIR sensor gets triggered.  Uses Wemos D1 mini and sends via MQTT to OpenHAB.

I have. It hasn't shipped yet (although I did get some stuff through which was peripheral stuff). It is getting very close to shipping. Early bird backers have got their kits. There were issues with fabrication of the boards.

Cheers, Matt

We have started shipping! There were a few delays with manufacturing -- but no technical issues. It was all just logistical screwups in getting product materials in time before the China factories shut down for Chinese New Year. It's all good now, and the production units are looking and working great.

Also, we have a working beta with Home Assistant, as I know many New Zealanders were interested in this integration. I can't post links here but you can find Home Assistant setup instructions on help(dot)konnected(dot)io.

How's everyone going with their install?

Received my kit a couple of weeks ago and have finally had enough spare time to get it installed.  I say 'installed', but what I mean is it's plugged in and has the motion sensors wired up.  Waited a little while initially for the Home Assistant update that contained the necessary components, then had to find the old alarm module.  Turns out when I first looked in the roof space I placed the access hatch directly on top of it haha.

Install and setup has been pretty painless so far.  Testing out Hass Custom Alarm, and once I'm happy with that (plus it has WAF) I'll wire in the siren.

Mine's here. I have been waiting for HASS to get integration which it has now.

WAF is an issue though as we have some great 433 MHz remotes that disarm our alarm from the car and I haven't come up with a strategy to replace this yet. Presence detection with the UNIFI is probably the way to go but I am only going to get one shot at it so need to make sure it is right. I've also got a bunch of Amazon Dash Buttons which might do the trick but will require some testing.

Cheers, Matt.

I'm really interested in this and have chatted with Nate via Fb about replacing my current monitored Bosch alarms at home and at the holiday house.

Couple of things holding me back that I am working on are:

  1. Good alternative to arm / disarm the system that's fully WAF as cant use existing keypad

    • Yale Digital Lock with Z-Wave - pick up door unlocks via code / key etc to disarm system - maybe use Google Assistant to arm (was going to get lock at some point anyway)
    • NodeMCU RFID Reader with MQTT - have ordered a kit to have a play - potential option for holiday house as lock is expensive and dont have a google home up there so need something that can do both arm / disarm
    • Google Assistant & IFFT - but what if internet is down
    • Old tablet running Android MQTT alarm app - but wife didn't like this idea for some reason
  2. Smoke alarms that can integrate with the system (need to replace existing ones as old anyway) - haven't even started looking at this

  3. Activation notifications etc

    1. Have been using Pushbullet to test notifications around presence, but find I dont always get notifications
    2. Currently using HTML5 notifications for some stuff and this works well, and supports actions also... so could have actions to arm system when I forget via notification etc
    3. Twilio to generate a sms / phonecall which I think might be more useful and not overlooked (like some notifications can be)

Interested to hear what others are doing around the above three things....

Forgot to mention I am running HASS using inbuilt SSL which is another thing thats been holding me back as I understand there have been some issues with HASS via HTTPS (using LetsEncrypt certs) and Konnected... I think the latest firmware resolves this but not 100% sure

Any developments from anyone using this in NZ with Home Assistant? Keen to hear what others are up to / issues they've experienced / cool things they've discovered?

Life has got in the way of doing much more with my install unfortunately.

Continuing from my previous post, have dealt with the following issues:

- PIRs looked like they were activating on movement, however the status in Hassio wasn't changing.  After reading another post about a similar issue I pulled the front covers off and disconnected a resistor in the circuit (on each PIR).

- Getting the Hass-Custom-Alarm panel to work in Fully Kiosk Browser (on a Nexus ROM Amazon Fire 7" tablet) took faaar too long.  Kept banging my head on the tablet end, everything else worked!  Finally went back to basics and went through the Hassio config, then on a hunch I removed a third party frontend I wasn't using and was obviously interfering with SOMETHING.  Success.

- Disconnected the Raspberry Pi running Hassio as it developed a weird noise that changes with the amount of network traffic flowing.  Think that's a bad power supply.

So everything works now, but I need to collect a few bits and pieces to finish the install:

- 12V to 5V convertor to charge the tablet, using the keypad feed wires from the Konnected board.

- Picture frame or mount to hold the tablet on the wall.

- Various mounting stuff to give the Konnected board a more 'permanent' home.  Kinda need to move it from the roof space (where the old alarm board was) before summer comes along.

Mine is working in HASS - need to add to my config.yaml to group them together, then can trigger some lights to turn off after lack of movement of x time.

Question I have is with an MQTT sensor (have another working fine - my garage door). Have installed the HASS MQTT broker then compiled this:

https://github.com/xlogerais/esp8266-mqtt-sensor-sht30#ota

Although it isn't clear what the topic is, it appears to be maybe this (at the bottom of the main sketch):

sprintf(topic,"%s/%s/%s",MQTT_PREFIX,module_name,"temperature");

which is this:

mm/dd/yyyy/smarthome/mqttsensor/temperature

but that seems a bit weird?

no it's a format string:

sprintf(topic,"%s/%s/%s",MQTT_PREFIX,module_name,"temperature");

So MQTT_PREFIX/module_name/temperature.

Which resolves to smarthome/mqttsensor/temperature.

Looks like there's new board available Konnected Alarm Panel INTERFACE

which works in PARALLEL with existing alarm!

anyone ordered yet? keen to pair it with Paradox SP5500 for at least motion/trigger monitoring as of now, it's impossible to remotely arm/disarm current alarm :(
