Old desktop computer power supplies are an excellent source of components, if you don't mind "ratting" them.
Often easier and far less frustrating than driving to Jaycar just to buy a single resistor. And they have things like high current fast rise time low loss diodes, which Jaycar would charge heaps for, if they even stocked them.
in the UK and US pretty much everything you can wish for is available for next day guaranteed delivery... How i'm going to survive in NZ without amazon i'm yet to come to terms with.. :-)
