Not sure if this is a problem for you or not, but your website is exceedingly slow for initial connection. Not sure who your host is or what the issue is, but initially I thought it was down.

Apologies for that, it is hosted overseas. I have been thinking about moving it locally. any good hosting platforms here?

Don't... Just me, but I trust them as far as I can bowl them. They had a cert pulled because it was dodgy... they have new ones now, but yeah... even their logo is a ripoff of google home.

Oh, for wifi switches, wifi routers often have a device limit... How many switches are you replacing? Chances are you'll max your device limit on domestic wifi gear.

Ah yes, I see you also post over at Whirlpool haha. I finished reading the mega-thread on the available options over the weekend. Sadly it doesn't seem that even in 2018 there are many options for Aus/NZ.

I registered this morning to check out your site (and pricing).

One recommendation I'd make is to allow users to check "include GST" so we can see retail pricing.

Another would be to provide further details of the certification of your appliances. Wulian looks like everything I could need to get the home up and running, but there are no certification details.

The take away from the Whirlpool threads on home automation is that Insurance won't pay out if your house burns down and they find you've used uncertified mains powered appliances/switches etc.

Can you provide a bit more detail on Wulian? Very promising if they're legitimately recognised in NZ.

Nz is quite different to au because we have SDoC requirements that they don't do over there.

Over there since sparkys have to do all wiring even fixture swaps they push a lot of the compliance onto the sparky.

You are absolutely right. I wouldn't sell anything that isn't certified. As it says on the website we are happy to supply SDocs for our products (email me). In addition, we are a registered responsible supplier (electrical goods), this means that certified products we sell come with our own Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) and registration number. this explains a bit about it:

Please keep in mind that not all Wulian products are certified yet. But we will not sell anything that isn't.

On a side note, one of the guys mentioned why NZ has fewer choices than other countries. in a nutshell to get a product certified for use in NZ the factory has to make changes to the product to meet the requirement. then they have to get the products tested and certified in the country of origin. The certifying body there has to make at least 2 separate tests and certificates (electrical and EMC). After that, an NZ/AU certification body has to redo both tests to verify the overseas testing and achieve C-Tick compliance. then the supplier has to create the SDocs based on those certificates. and to give you an idea the AU/NZ test alone can cost around 15K per product. All of this is for product by product for each manufacturer. We are working hard to bring more and more products to NZ legally but its just not that easy.

Migration finally completed. I went with freeparking.co.nz. Not cheap but I believe it’s the best solution

I now have my first Z wave dimmer switch installed and working via my OpenHAB installation on my Synology NAS.

I relied on the excellent documentation provided here: http://www.openhab.org/ plus a couple of other websites, so didn't need to ask any stupid questions!
