I finally bought the pi last Saturday from pbtech. I have messed about with different flavours of os.

I think I will keep osmc tv seems to work quite well I've installed add ons
you tube,sky news,vice,wired, tvcatchup, iplayer www,fox news and adult swim

Is there anything else I should be installing that I have missed as they are so easy to install and if its not working just delete!

I will vote -1 on a pi for this. Android boxes come with a case psu storage remote and in some cases a HDMI cable for not much more than a pi and also have 4k support on some.

I found the pi just too slow on the menus. I converted it to volumio and is good for that. Can airplay and spotify to my amp now. Although, newer amps come with it built in.

I was just about to post a query as to what, if any, advantages a Pi would have over an Android box which, in addition to Kodi, can also run the wealth of Android software, is an all in one package solution for less money (or maybe a little bit more if you pay for a top end model)

I thought Android devices had issues with refresh rate switching. If that's (still?) the case, that'd be one big black mark against them.

There's tons of software available for the Pi. You can even use it as a desktop computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and surfing the web.

But it depends what you're looking for. A Pi is a cheap, capable computer. Good for learning, experimenting, and building.
