You'd be better off adding a proper aux input to the car - on most Mazdas this can be done fairly easily either via the CD changer port or a dedicated aux port on the back of the unit.

Do have Aux on the stereo, but its very quiet and requires cranking the stereo up 2x its normal volume.

I got one of these recently from Aliexpress, just setting it up, seems to work well. Only used a couple of times but so far has not automatically connected to my iPhone when I hop in the car. Some reading of the instructions required. Used for hands free on the way home, worked well, the person at the other end said it was a little echo yy , but reducing the volume a smidge helped.

So I am wanting to get some sort of handsfree speakerphone type thing for my car. How do the ones that plug into the cigarette lighter socket work? I can't see how the microphone would work, unless it has a separate microphone you place?

The one I have has the microphone built into the unit-that-plugs-into-the-lighter-socket. Probably not the best place it could be, but I’m sure it works.

I ended up buying this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078TD6D72/

It plugs into the aux port on the stereo, so will see how well that goes
