So glad I'm not alone with this issue!

Hopefully Google will get it sorted quickly, the Aussie voice is really beginning to grate with me...

Ok. I've done since testing and have discovered the following.

The voice is based on your location. So in NZ we are graced with the Australian lady. I switched location to London and got a UK accent. I then ditched to Paris and got a US accent. It would have been cool to have a nice lady with a French accent.

But the issue is you cannot change the voice even though the option is there.

Try saying Hey Google Change Assistant Voice and you will get a response in a different voice you can accept or not. But it does not stick and there Australian lady still is the voice.

However when I switch my location to the US all accents are available and stick which is why the US folks are not complaining.

It's clearly a bug but how do you report it to Google?

We're not alone. How much testing does Google do?

After changing yesterday from UK English, my preferred, to Australian, today it has changed to USA. I set it back to UK and it seems to have stuck, fingers crossed.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

People really think an Australian accent is worse than possibly the world's most annoying accent? Just how bad is the Australian-accented speaker in Google whatever-it-is?

F**cking awful

Here is my Quic referral https://account.quic.nz/refer/39513 if you are keen to change ISP and to get free setup (save $29). I will get a $50 credit if you use this.  Thank you very much if you use my link but I'm sure there are quite a few others who could share the same on here, no hard feelings if you use a different link.

To put this in context, a good explanation of why the American accent is annoying as explained by the world-famous ethnologist Dr.D.Moran.

I had my Google Home set to speak as a nice British female, which was a lot better than the Aussie voice.

That's a bit harsh. I think it's a combination of the accent and the voice itself. IMHO only of course.

I was curious so had a quick listen to some samples on Youtube. Doesn't sound that bad, and certainly better than that annoying generic American-midwest accent that too many devices come with.

I'd love to see Google bolt Lynn of Tawa onto their NZ version :-).
