An article popped up in my Google feed yesterday about sdr users discovering the likely demise of NOAA-15 by the images it's sending back being filled with bands. Something to do with the rotating radar? motor seizing

I too do pocsag and ADSB. Never branched further so far outside of acars and FM

Yeah the motor siezed in it, and it was sending off plane images, then images with bad banding. It was temporarily resolved when it overvolted the motor and freed it. It's pretty much on it's last legs now though. Not bad for a 2 year mission that's lasted ~20 years!
