Ah, interesting! Have you tried it with the PIN option enabled? I haven't been able to find any screenshots of what that gives you, is it a standard WPA2 password that you have to enter before connecting, a WPS PIN, or something else?

The pin is randomly generated when you connect to the display. It presents the pin on the display, you enter it on the computer, it pairs and displays.

Ah, OK, so it's a PIN for WPS, not a WPA2 key.

Mine doesn't require a PIN. I think there is firmware update available however I have been using mine on Windows 7 and I think (but not sure) you need Windows 8 or later to get access to update the firmware. Perhaps that firmware has the PIN feature.

Only one device can access it at one time. It will not show as available to any other devices once it is in use with a device.

On Netgears its a PIN, if I remember correctly only needed first time you connect that device.

Probably varies from dongle to dongle. I always got a PIN when Miracasting to the projector at my old workplace.

Ah, OK, so it's a PIN for WPS, not a WPA2 key.

Try not to confuse Wireless and Wireless display. WPA/WPS doesn't apply to the MWDA.

You can set an option to require PIN to connect which displays a random PIN when someone initiates a connection. Seems to remember devices that have previously paired which seems counter-productive.

I kind of prefer the ActionTec Screenbeams as there is a bit more flexibility in how they're configured in terms of backgrounds etc. Not sure how much we've updated the app over the years to keep up. Chromecast is a bit meh in terms of flexibility with needing Chrome.
