Regarding meter box cover.  I have top hung powder coated steel cover circa 1995.

Problems with smart meter reading. Meter people say no room to fit quad band antenna. 

I would like to cut out a window to see if this improves signal.  And cover with plastic, or lexan attached with silicone RTV and perhaps Machine crews.

Is this worth trying?
