SATTV:

https://www.vatnz.net/airspace/airport/NZHN says that Hamilton ATIS is 126.65 so make sure you are on channel.

If I recall you said you lived close to the airport so it might be that the front end of the scanner is overloaded when the tower hits the transmit button, the transmitter may not be in the tower itself, it may be out in a field else ware, this is rather common practice to separate the transmitter from the receiver  to prevent overloading amongst other things.

John

Your source info for the ATIS frequency is wrong. 128.600 is the correct frequency.

The primary tower frequency is 122.900, 126.800 is used when it's busy as a second frequency.

Yar, Presumably VATSIM (Virtual) have it slightly different to allow for something else in the games :)

AIP.net.nz is a better reference, pull up their aerodrome docs and check procdures, usually approach/ground movements and details are at the top of pages:

ELEV 172
HAMILTON
TOWER: 122.9 126.8 119.8
HAMILTON
Effective: 30 JAN 20
NZHN GROUND MOVEMENTS (1)
ATIS: 128.6 UNATTENDED: 122.9

Oblivian:

Same issue in CHC if you are within about 100m of the ATIS antennas out the back by the aero club.

Any other hot mic is over-run by it.

This will be it.....presumably the aircraft don't have the same issue for some reason.
